At least three people were killed and several injured in several shootings in Marseille in the south of France on Sunday night.
Police sources told television channel BFMTV that there were three shootings, one of them in the Castellas area, in which two people were shot dead and two injured, one of them in critical condition.

After a second shooting, which took place in the Les Aygalades district in the north of the city, two men were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.
The third shooting took place in the La Joliette area and left one person dead, according to the AFP.
Another similar incident occurred on Saturday, in which a total of four people were injured.
The three separate shootings on Sunday evening could indicate that violence between rival drug gangs is on the rise.
All of the fatalities were young people in their twenties who suffered gunshot wounds.
Last year, 32 people were shot dead in the wake of gang violence in France’s second-largest city, a record number, according to the Marseille prosecutor’s office.
This year, 13 people have died, including the latest victims, according to an AFP report.
The densely populated northern districts of Marseille are some of the urban areas that serve as drug trafficking hubs.
In September 2021, French President Emmanuel Macron unveiled a €1.5 billion plan to help Marseille fight crime, calling these efforts a “task of the nation”.
