A train carrying at least 50 passengers in the Netherlands derailed on Tuesday after colliding with construction equipment on the track, emergency services reported, adding that several people were “seriously injured.”
According to the ANP news agency, according to which the leading wagon crashed in a field after the accident, a fire broke out in at least one of the wagons at the rear of the train. Emergency services were busy at the crash site, near the town of Voorschoten located between The Hague and Leiden.
Train connections between Leiden and some stations in The Hague have been suspended due to the accident, the national railway company said via Twitter.
