Trump indicted: Prosecutor announces ’34 false statements were made to cover up crimes’

During a press conference after the historic appearance of Donald Trump in a New York court, the Manhattan prosecutor returned to the charges against the former US president.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Donald Trump was charged with “34 false statements […] carried out to cover up other crimes.” Crimes “related to the 2016 election,” according to the New York prosecutor.

He also denounced the “serious criminal conduct” of Donald Trump.

“The law is the same for everyone,” he insisted before the press.

Three problem cases

Donald Trump has been accused by the New York court of “orchestrating” a series of payments to cover up three shameful cases before the 2016 presidential elections, the Manhattan prosecutor detailed Tuesday.

A Trump Tower doorman who claimed to have information about a hidden child was given $30,000 to remain silent; A woman posing as an ex-lover was paid $150,000 for being discreet and a pornographic actress was paid $130,000 for concealing an alleged extramarital affair, prosecutor Alvin Bragg said in a news release.
