The husband of former Scottish Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon was arrested on Wednesday in the course of an investigation into the finances of the Scottish National Party, of which he is the former executive chairman.
According to The Guardian newspaper, Peter Murrell was “detained as a suspect”, is in custody and will be subjected to police questioning.

The arrest comes shortly after, in March, Nicola Sturgeon left the leadership of the Scottish National Party after eight years, and her resignation at the head of Scotland’s self-government, citing the “physical and mental impact” suffered in recent years.
