China is holding military exercises in the Taiwan Strait on Saturday with the aim of a “total encirclement” of the island, Chinese state television reported.
“Today’s exercise focuses on the ability to seize control of the sea, airspace and intelligence (…) to create deterrence and total encirclement” of Taiwan, CCTV channel said.
The exact location of these operations was not reported by the media.
The closest part between the Chinese coast and the island in the Taiwan Strait is about 130 kilometers.
According to the CCTV channel, destroyers, fast missile launchers, combat planes, supply ships and other military means are mobilized for these exercises.
