The musician Lasse Wellander, legendary guitarist of ABBA, died this Friday at the age of 70, his family revealed on social networks. Wellander had been battling cancer for several years and died “surrounded by his family”.
“It is with indescribable sadness that we have to announce that our beloved Lasse has passed away. Lasse had recently been ill with what turned out to be cancer, which had spread, and early on Good Friday, he died surrounded by his loved ones. read in a note posted on Facebook and signed by the children Lena, Ludvig and Andréas.
With a career spanning over 50 years, Wellander recorded and performed live with ABBA on numerous tours in the 1970s and 1980s.
