The president of the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes, determined this Friday that Jair Bolsonaro will be heard in the next ten days about the attacks in Brasilia on January 8.
Justice Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), determined that the former President of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro give testimony in the framework of Investigation (INQ) 4921, opened at the request of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR) to to investigate the responsibility of the masterminds and people who instigated the coup acts of January 8″, reads the note published on the website of the Federal Supreme Court.
The Brazilian Attorney General’s Office made the request a few days after the events, but it was not approved because Bolsonaro was out of the country.
“With his return to Brazil on 3/30, the diligence required by the PGR could be carried out. In his decision, Minister Alexandre de Moraes considers the measure essential for the complete clarification of the facts investigated. to the conduct practiced by him on January 10, when he allegedly incited the commission of crimes against the rule of law”, reads the same note.
Following Bolsonaro’s defeat in the Brazilian elections, supporters of the former president invaded and vandalized the headquarters of the country’s three powers in Brasilia, forcing a federal intervention to restore order and raising condemnation from the international community.
