Poland is building an electronic barrier with state-of-the-art technology at its border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad to monitor and neutralize illegal activities, Poland’s interior minister said on Tuesday.
“We will fully guard the border with Russia,” Mariusz Kaminski said of the barrier that will be equipped with 24-hour surveillance cameras and motion detectors within a 210 km radius.
The minister said that this will be the safest European border, thanks to the barrier to be completed in the autumn, and that he will be perfectly prepared to stop any kind of illegal activity related to crisis situations involving “the eastern neighbours”.
2022, Poland built a wall on its border with Belarus to stem the massive flow of illegal immigrants that it said had been organized by Russian and Belarusian authorities to destabilize Poland and the EU.
At the moment there is an anti-tank barrier on the Kaliningrad border blocking the roads.
