Poland is building a state-of-the-art electronic barrier on the border with the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad to monitor and neutralize any illegal activity, the Polish interior minister said Tuesday.
“We will have full monitoring of the border with Russia,” Mariusz Kaminski said of the barrier that will be equipped with 24-hour surveillance cameras and motion detectors within a radius of 210 km.
The minister has said that this will be the safest European border, thanks to the barrier that should be finished in the autumn, and that it will be perfectly prepared to stop any type of illegal activity related to crisis situations related to “neighbours to the east”.
In 2022, Poland built a wall on the border with Belarus to stop the massive flow of illegal immigrants that it considered organized by the Russian and Belarusian authorities to destabilize Poland and the EU.
At the moment there is an anti-tank barrier on the border with Kaliningrad blocking the roads.
