A fire in a hospital in Beijing killed at least 21 people and forced the evacuation of the premises, with 71 patients being evacuated, the official Chinese press reported.
According to the state newspaper Global Times, the fire at the Changfeng hospital, in the southwest of the capital, started at 12:57 local time (04:57 Lisbon time).
The firefighters managed to put out the flames half an hour later, although the rescue operation lasted approximately two hours.
According to the latest balance of the authorities, twenty-one people died and 71 patients were evacuated and transferred to other hospitals.
So far the causes of the fire are unknown and the investigation continues.
