At least four people were seriously injured in an attack on a gym in the German city of Duisburg.
The German authorities, quoted by the Associated Press (AP), assure that the situation “is still confusing” and that “according to the available information, a person injured others with an object”, explaining that this object could be a knife or another ” cutting weapon”, without adding more details.
Police said they received the first emergency calls around 5:40 p.m. (4:40 p.m. in Lisbon).
This police force also mentioned that a large number of agents are in the place.
The German news agency DPA reported that several people were seriously injured. It is not yet clear how many people were injured in this attack, with the assailant still at large, according to the DPA.
Several victims were transported to a hospital while authorities searched the gym and questioned witnesses to the attack, the German news agency said.
According to the German newspaper ‘Bild’, quoted by the Efe agency, the incident originated in the gym’s locker room and it is unknown how many people actively participated in the attack.
The same newspaper reported that, according to eyewitnesses, those who were in the place were attacked indiscriminately by the assailant, who fled.
