NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced this Friday that Ukraine is ready to launch a counter-offensive that will enable it to recapture territories occupied by invading Russian forces.
“I am sure that [os ucranianos] are in a position to liberate more territory,” Stoltenberg said on the sidelines of a meeting of Ukrainian allies at the US military base in Ramstein, Germany.
“One of the main issues discussed was looking at the different capabilities, systems and supplies that Ukrainians need to gain more ground,” he added.
Stoltenberg revealed that Ukraine has received Patriot surface-to-air missile systems. “Germany and the United States have supplied Patriot batteries, which are already in use in Ukraine,” he said, without specifying the quantities.
Ukraine is emphatically demanding the provision of advanced defense systems to protect itself against Russian bombardments.
The Pentagon said in March that 65 Ukrainian military personnel have completed their Patriot training in the United States and returned to Europe.
About 50 countries participate in the Ramstein meeting.
