At least eight people were injured in two shootings in Washington

Eight people were injured in two shootings in Washington on Friday night, the Metropolitan Police Department said Saturday, with authorities suspecting the incidents are related.

The fact that the incidents happened in the same part of town, but in different places and in a short period of time, led police to suspect that they may be related, although the reason is still unknown.

At a press conference, one of the chiefs of patrol for the Metropolitan Police, Andre Wright, said police had been called to intervene following a gunfire warning on Lebaum Street at around 10 p.m. local time, after they had gunfired seven men found it. bullet wounds, but not life-threatening.

“There was some chaos because of the number of victims and loved ones,” Wright said, quoted by the AP.

Police officers were still there when they received a report of a shooting on 2nd Street, where they found a 12-year-old girl with gunshot wounds to her lower extremities.

Most of the injured have been taken to hospitals, a police spokesman said.

Authorities are now looking for a car described by several Lebaum Street witnesses as one that said the gunmen shot “randomly” at people as they passed through the block.

“It’s a great night. There were people having fun and coming down this street and 2nd Street,” said Andre Wright, promising that authorities will not dwell on the attitude of those “who reason to think that there is no problem in shooting multiple individuals”.
