Ukrainian military intelligence said on Monday that Russia was producing and stockpiling missiles to respond to a Ukrainian counter-offensive and thwart kyiv’s attempts to recapture Russian-occupied territory.
“[A Rússia] is stockpiling missiles to disrupt our offensive operation,” Kyrylo Budanov said.
The Ukrainian official said in an interview with the local media RBK that the storage of missiles explains the end of the massive attacks with this type of weapons against Ukrainian cities – which began in the fall of last year with the aim of destroying the electrical system of the country.
In addition to storage, Budanov noted that “Russia is also producing new missiles.”
“Most of these missiles will be used in active hostilities,” stressed the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence services.
Starting in the fall of 2022 and for part of last winter, Russia attacked power plants in Kiev and other major Ukrainian cities with Iranian ‘kamikaze drones’ and even carried out strikes in waves with up to 120 missiles.
In recent months, Russia has only used ‘drones’.
Ukraine is preparing a counteroffensive for the spring or summer of this year with the aim of recovering part of its territories occupied by Russia.
Budanov himself acknowledged in the interview with RBK that the results of this campaign will be decisive for the future of Ukraine.
