Russian authorities accuse Kiev of attacking the port of Sevastopol

Russian authorities on Monday accused Ukraine of trying to attack the port of Sevastopol, adding that a ‘drone’ had also been found in a forest near Moscow.

The head of the Moscow-designated Crimean port city of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, announced that the army destroyed a Ukrainian maritime ‘drone’ (unmanned aerial vehicle) that attempted to attack the port.

He added that another ‘drone’ exploded without causing any damage.

Ukrainian authorities have not commented on or claimed responsibility for the attack, but have stressed in previous attacks that Ukraine has the right to hit any target in response to Russian aggression.

According to Russian media, a Ukrainian ‘drone’ was found today in a forest about 30 kilometers from the capital.

The “drone” that crashed near Moscow was identified by Russian media as a Ukrainian-made device containing 17 kilograms of explosives.

The UJ-22 is a small reconnaissance drone that can carry around 20 kilograms of explosives and has a flight range of up to 800 kilometers.

The military offensive launched by Russia in Ukraine on February 24, 2022 has so far led to the flight of more than 14.6 million people – 6.5 million internally displaced persons and more than 8.1 million to European countries -, according to the latest data from the UN. which classifies this refugee crisis as the worst in Europe since World War II (1939-1945).

At the moment, at least 18 million Ukrainians need humanitarian aid and 9.3 million people need food aid and shelter.

The Russian invasion – justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russian security – was condemned by the international community at large, which responded by sending arms to Ukraine and to impose on Russia political and economic sanctions.

The UN presented 8,534 civilian casualties and 14,370 wounded as confirmed since the start of the war, underlining that these numbers are well below the real ones.
