“Russia is clearly humiliating democracy, freedom and convention,” he added.
The authenticity of Podoliak’s tweet was confirmed to Agence France-Presse by a source in the Ukrainian presidency.
The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, has been in New York since Monday, as Russia holds the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council until the end of April.
This Monday, the Russian minister stated that the United Nations system was “going through a deep crisis”, accusing the West, in particular the United States, of being responsible.
Next Tuesday, Lavrov is expected to chair a debate session on the situation in the Middle East and give a press conference after more than a year of invasion of Ukraine.
