The gunman who killed eight people Saturday at a Texas mall is a 33-year-old man who was staying at a nearby motel, according to authorities investigating any ties to white supremacist ideology.
On Saturday afternoon, a gunman opened fire on a mall in the Dallas, Texas area, killing eight people and injuring several others before being fatally shot by police.
Three police officers, who spoke to the Associated Press (AP) on condition of anonymity, identified the shooter as Mauricio Garcia.
One said investigators searched the motel and a Dallas-area home associated with the suspect.
The same source told the AP that multiple guns were found at the scene after Garcia was fatally shot.
Authorities are also investigating possible links to white supremacist ideology.according to sources close to the study cited The Wall Street Journal.
