The president of the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, Ahmet Yener, confirmed on Monday that the country’s presidential elections will have to be decided in a second round on May 28, between Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
“The polls in the country were 100% open, the participation rate was 88.92% in the country and 52.69% abroad,” he announced to the country.
The final results in Turkey give Erdogan a vote share of 49.50%, below the majority required for the first round of elections, compared to 44.89% for Kılıçdaroğlu.
Third place in these elections was occupied by Sinan Oğan, who gathered 5.17% of the votes, relegating Muharrem İnce to last place, with a vote of only 0.44%.
