On Wednesday, on the sidelines of the summit of heads of state and government of the Council of Europe, the Portuguese prime minister met his Ukrainian counterpart and the leader of the movement for democracy in Belarus.
These meetings in Reykjavik with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, and with the human rights activist and democratic leader of Belarus, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaia, were published on António Costa’s official account on the social network Twitter.
“In the margins of the Council of Europe summit, I met the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, to whom I reiterated our support,” the leader of the Portuguese executive wrote.

Regarding the meeting with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaia, the prime minister said he had expressed Portugal’s support for “the democratic transition” in Belarus.
Among other bilateral meetings, António Costa also met with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Marca Rutte, where “the themes of the European agenda” were analyzed.
