The British telecommunications and television group BT announced Thursday in a statement that it will cut up to 55,000 jobs by the end of the decade to reduce costs.
The layoffs, which cover 42% of the telecommunications giant’s total workforce, come two days after Vodafone revealed plans to cut 11,000 jobs over the next three years.
BT currently employs 130,000 people and has Altice as the majority shareholder.
