The Cannes Film Festival kicks off this weekend with some of the most popular films, as happened yesterday with Indiana Jones and the Marker of Destiny, the fifth installment of the hero who marked American cinema in the 1980s. Spielberg, but the man from Wolverine and Logan: James Mangold, making movies these days, that is, flooding the saga with a digital device that digitally rejuvenates Harrison Ford’s face. This was the theme yesterday in the halls of the Palais des Congrés, especially after a gala and party with media hype as a reminder that Hollywood still badly needs this festival.
It’s a shame that this blockbuster, shown out of competition, doesn’t measure up, especially since it has a story that misses the true spirit of Indy and abuses a fantasy that seems more Marvel material. It is, in fact, the worst movie in this franchise.
On the market, a big stir. In addition to saying that the Russians are making money on purchases, distributors have had plenty of attractive titles to do business with, especially biographies. Carl Sagan is Andrew Garfield in Voyagers, in the new film by Sebastián Lellio and the painter Modigliani will also have a “biopic” directed by Johnny Depp, with Al Pacino in the cast.
