Russia issues arrest warrant for ICC prosecutor who sought Putin’s arrest

Russia has issued an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the International Criminal Court (ICC), who in March issued an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin on war crimes charges, Russian media reported today.

It concerns British prosecutor Karim Ahmed Khan, who has thus entered the list of wanted men of the Russian Ministry of the Interior, according to the ministry’s database.

The Kremlin launched proceedings against Ahmed Khan and three other ICC judges on March 20, days after the Russian president’s arrest warrant was issued.

The ICC order orders the arrest of Putin and Russia’s children’s rights ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova on war crimes charges related to the kidnapping of Ukrainian children.

The Russian government denies committing war crimes during the “special military operation” in Ukraine and says it is a victim of Western aggression and disinformation.
