Berlusconi, aged 86, left the hospital in a black car, accompanied by several vehicles, without making a statement to the press, according to Spanish agencies EFE and France’s AFP.
The leader of the center-right party Forza Italia, part of the governing coalition, was admitted to intensive care on April 5 and transferred to a ward after 12 days.
The owner of the behemoth Fininvest appeared in a video a week ago encouraging Italians to vote in local elections held in about 800 municipalities in the country.
Earlier he had already sent a first video message to the party congress, in which he indicated that he was ready to return to the fight.
In the latest medical report, released on May 3, about a month after he was hospitalized, the doctors who treated him explained that Berlusconi’s clinical condition was “stable and encouraging”.
At the time, doctors revealed that Berlusconi was being treated for a lung infection caused by chronic myelogenous leukemia, a blood cancer that can mainly affect people over the age of 60.
Berlusconi has been hospitalized several times over the years, once because he needed a ‘pacemaker’ implanted.
The former prime minister, a position he held three times, was also hospitalized due to covid-19 and, in January 2022, to treat a urinary tract infection.
During the time Berlusconi was in hospital, he was accompanied by his companion, deputy sheriff Marta Fascina, aged 53.
In the hospital he was visited by his five children, friends and political allies, such as Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
