No poll indicates that any other political formation could cross the electoral target first, except for the New Democracy of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the prime minister seeking re-election. However, without an absolute majority in parliament, the final result will depend on the other key players. Although Mitsotakis is aiming for July, an agreement on a post-election coalition is not impossible.
Seeing the passage of an amendment to the 2020 electoral law to prevent the participation of convict-led political parties – made AD hoc to exclude the National Party – Greeks, whose shadow leader is neo-Nazi Ilias Kasidiaris – which failed to obtain a two-thirds majority, Mitsotakis is in pre-1990 territory. That is, since that year, the winning coalition or party gets 50 additional deputies to facilitate the formation of stable majorities.
