At least 20 children died in a fire in a school dormitory in Mahdia, a city in central Guyana, according to an official source.
“This is a great disaster. It is horrible, it is painful,” the president of Guyana, Irfaan Ali, a small country located in the northeast of South America, declared at dawn today, without giving the exact number of deaths or injuries.
An authorities source told the AFP news agency that there were “many deaths and injuries.”
