This comes days after British Telcom announced last week a restructuring plan that will lead to the layoff of 55,000 people by 2030 in response to rising inflation.
The businessman of Israeli, French, Portuguese and Moroccan nationality was already the main shareholder of British Telcom, but denies that the reinforcement of the participation is aimed at the acquisition of the telecommunications company.
Patrick Drahi is one of the richest men in Europe. The founder and current owner of Altice Europa was born in Morocco, but moved to France as a teenager and obtained Portuguese nationality in 2016, having proven that he was descended from three Jewish families expelled from Portugal.
