The Mexican branch of Reporters Without Borders (RSF) stated that as a government official, Ramírez contributed to the arrest of suspected criminals.
RSF called for a prompt and transparent investigation to determine “whether the murder was related to his work as a city official or his journalistic practice.”
More than 150 journalists have been killed in Mexico since 2000, according to RSF.
