A man crashed his car into the gate of the British Prime Minister’s residence on Downing Street in central London on Thursday, the British Prime Minister’s office said. Scotlandyard.
“At around 4.20pm a car crashed into the gates of Downing Street in Whitehall. Armed police arrested a man at the scene on suspicion of criminal mischief and dangerous driving,” the police said in a statement.

London’s Metropolitan Police said there were no reports of injuries and indicated an investigation was underway.
Access to the street where the residence of the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer is located, at numbers 10 and 11 Downing Street, is restricted and is through a gate behind which several armed police officers stand.
Free public access has been banned since 1989 when the gates were installed for security reasons.
