Chaos ensued at the last dawn in the UK. The electronic gates that exist at ports and airports, including Heathrow, Manchester and Gatwick, and which allow faster entry and exit from the country, are all out of service.
According to the BBCthe problem has not yet been resolved, so border agents have to view people’s documents manually, one by one.
This situation is causing arrival delays at UK airports, as well as traffic queues on the access motorways to Dover.
It was already anticipated that this would be a busy time at UK ports, airports and roads due to the long weekend.
According to the BBC, the Home Office is already working with airlines and port operators to minimize the problem.
