Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saluted his country’s air defense and rescue forces on Sunday after Kiev endured the largest Russian drone attack since the invasion began.
“You look up to destroy enemy missiles, planes, helicopters and drones. Every time you shoot down enemy drones and missiles, lives are saved…you are heroes!” said Zelensky, thanking the rescuers as well.
Ukraine announced this Sunday that it had fought “the most significant drone strike” in Kiev since the start of the Russian invasion, leaving two dead and three injured, Ukrainian authorities announced.
Ukrainian officials said they destroyed 52 of 54 drones with explosives launched into the country by Moscow from Saturday evening to today, including “more than 40” in the capital alone.
“In total, a record number of explosive drones launched was recorded: 54!” Confirmed the Ukrainian Air Force on the Telegram social network, which claimed to have destroyed “52”.
So far, authorities have reported two dead and three injured in Kiev.
