Iran: Mahsa Amini’s parents file a complaint against the “authors of her arrest”

The family of the young woman, arrested on September 13 for breaching the dress code and died three days later in prison, decided to file a complaint.

Mahsa Amini’s parents filed a complaint against the police who arrested their daughter on September 13, the family’s lawyer, teacher Saleh Nikbakht, was quoted as saying by the Isna news agency on Wednesday.

Three days after her arrest for violating the strict dress code for Iranian women, the 22-year-old died in custody. So, “Masha Amini’s parents have filed a complaint against the perpetrators of her daughter’s arrest and (the police) who have spoken with her since her arrival to the moral police,” said Salek Nikbakht.

“We have asked the chief prosecutor and the investigating judge to carry out a detailed investigation into how the arrest took place until Mahsa is transferred to hospital,” the lawyer explained.

It also demanded that the authorities provide “all the videos and photos” available during the entire period of Mahsa Amini’s detention in the hands of the moral police.

The chief prosecutor “promised that the case would be thoroughly handled and that all our requests would be taken into account,” Mr. Nikbakht said.

According to the lawyer, the chief prosecutor also promised “that a medical team appointed by Mahsa Amini’s family would be informed of the course of the investigation.”
