A two-year-old child and 22 injured are the result of bombings carried out by Russian forces this morning in the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Dnipro, Ukrainian authorities announced on Sunday.
The girl’s body was found by rescue teams under the ruins of a house in Dnipro’s Pidhorodnenska district, security forces added, quoted by news agencies.
In addition, 22 people were injured, including five children, they added.
Saturday’s attack destroyed two buildings in a residential area of Dnipro, as well as 10 houses, a shop and a gas pipeline, according to Dnipro region governor Serhiy Lysak.
According to the Kiev government, air defense systems managed to destroy numerous attacks in the morning.
According to witnesses, numerous explosions were heard in the city and the anti-aircraft alarm was activated for three hours.
“Russia has once again proven to be a terrorist state”declared Ukrainian President Volodomir Zelensky in the evening.
Zelensky has released video of a destroyed house where rescue teams are searching for victims and survivors.
The attacks damaged at least ten private homes, a car and a gas pipeline.
“Russians will be held accountable for everything they have done to our country and our people,” Zelensky said.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Saturday, Zelensky said Ukraine was ready to launch a counter-offensive.
“I think we are ready. We believe in success, I don’t know how much time we will need,” noted the Ukrainian president, who also called for more support for air defense.
The information released by both sides about the course of the war cannot be directly verified by independent sources.
