14 dead, five missing in China landslide

At least 14 people have been killed and five are missing after a landslide in southwest China’s Sichuan province, the local government said.

The landslide occurred on top of a mountain in Lu’erping State Forestry Farm, close to the town of Leshan and with “search and rescue operations underway,” the local government statement said.

The incident occurred around 06:00 local time (23:00 in Lisbon) this Sunday, with more than 180 people and 14 rescue teams mobilized to the site to conduct search and rescue operations in the affected area.

The cause of this landslide was the partial collapse of a mountain that injured seven people.

Search and rescue work continues at the site to find the missing.
