Pat Robertson, televangelist and former presidential candidate, dies

Religious broadcaster and former US presidential candidate Pat Robertson has died at the age of 93, the Christian television channel he founded announced in a statement on Thursday, without disclosing the cause of death.

Known for his conservative ideals, Pat Robertson became popular after turning a small station in Virginia into the worldwide Christian Broadcasting Network and running for president.

Pat Robertson, “TV presenter, educator, humanitarian and former presidential candidate, died Thursday morning at his home in Virginia Beach,” reports the Christian Broadcasting Network, writes France’s AFP.

Pat Robertson, also known for taking extreme positions, has passed away at the age of 93.

Robertson’s businesses also included Regent University, an evangelical Christian school in Virginia Beach, the American Center for Law and Justice, which advocates for the First Amendment rights of religious people, and Operation Blessing, an international humanitarian organization.
