Moscow opens investigation for ‘act of terrorism’ after alleged sabotage of gas pipelines

The Russian intelligence services (FSB) have opened an investigation into an “act of international terrorism” following the alleged sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea, the Russian attorney general announced on Wednesday.

In a statement posted on his Telegram social network account, the prosecutor said: “Intentional actions were taken near the (Danish) island to damage the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines located at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.” .

He added that “the Russian Federation suffered serious economic damage as a result of these acts.”

On Friday, the United Nations Security Council will meet at the request of the Russian Federation, regarding this sabotage, Sweden and France announced today.

The object of all suspicions for this alleged sabotage, the Russian Federation struck back, today demanding this meeting of the Security Council and accusing the US for what happened.
