The person arrested for stabbing four children and two adults at a playground in Annecy, eastern France, last Thursday has been charged with attempted murder and rebellion with a weapon, the prosecution announced this Saturday.
According to Annecy prosecutor Line Bonnet-Mathi, the suspect, Abdalmasi H., has not been charged with terrorism.
Bonnet-Mathi also announced that none of those injured in the attack are now in danger.
“None of them are in mortal danger,” he said.
The Syrian refugee was placed in pre-trial detention, said Bonnet-Mathis, who added that Abdalmasih H. “did not want to speak” either during the 48 hours he was in police custody or before the two investigating judges in charge of the investigation.
The prosecution reported the facts, which began around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (8:30 a.m. in Lisbon), when the victims were stabbed in Paquier Park.
Due to the intervention of several people who were in the vicinity of the playground, the suspect fled, who was eventually apprehended by five police officers about 300 meters from the park.
Meanwhile, locals continue to visit the site of the attack, which has become a tribute to the victims with flowers, messages of support, hugs and balloons.
