Hardly started, the recent Ukrainian offensive would already bear fruit. The army announced the capture of the town of Blagodatné, in the southeast of the country, on Sunday, June 11.
“The glorious soldiers of the 68th brigade (…) liberated the town of Blagodatné,” the Ukrainian army ground forces said on Facebook, posting a video showing soldiers holding a Ukrainian flag in a destroyed building. This is the first claimed victory of his offensive against Russian troops on this part of the front.
Volodymyr Zelensky had claimed responsibility for the first time on Saturday for “counter-offensive and defensive actions” in the territory, without specifying whether it was the great attack prepared for several months by the squad in kyiv. Meanwhile, Russian leader Vladimir Putin claimed that the Ukrainian counter-offensive “has started” but “did not achieve its objectives”.
