An 11-year-old boy with health problems died today on board a Turkish Airlines plane, which crash-landed in Budapest after the child fell ill on the flight between Istanbul and New York.
The child, who is an American national, fell ill shortly after the plane took off from Istanbul at around 08:50 (05:50 GMT), Turkish news agency Anadolu reported.
The crew first assisted the child and then a doctor present on board the aircraft performed CPR, but without success.
The captain of the plane decided to make an emergency landing at Liszt Ferenc Airport in Budapest, where the child died, according to Anadolu.
The child and his family disembarked the plane and were taken by ambulance to a medical center, with the plane continuing its flight soon after, the same source said.
