A woman has been sentenced to 28 months in prison in the UK after pleading guilty to buying and taking pills to induce an abortion after the legal time.
According to The Guardian, the 44-year-old wife and mother of three other children received the medication by “pills by post” (medication by post), a method introduced by the UK government during the Covid-19 pandemic. This method made it possible to give abortion pills to pregnant women up to 10 weeks after a teleconsultation.
The woman will serve half her sentence in custody and the other half will be entitled to authorized departure.
During the hearing, the court concluded that the woman would not know how long she was pregnant because she could not go to a consultation during the delivery. The woman was found guilty in March this year.
