The pope is still recovering and continuing his work at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, where he underwent abdominal surgery, the Vatican said Monday.
“The medical team informs that the postoperative period for Pope Francis remains normal, subject to medical prescriptions,” Vatican press officer Matteo Bruni said in a statement.
Francisco “continues to eat normally” and “this morning he received the Holy Eucharist, then he devoted himself to his work,” Bruni added.
On Sunday, the pope could get up, take a few steps, work and even pray the Angelus in the chapel of the private apartment, located on the tenth floor of the hospital.
On Saturday, the medical team advised Francisco to stay in the hospital for at least this week for his full recovery.
The Pope’s audiences at the Vatican have been suspended until June 18.
