JPMorgan bank will pay more than 200 million euros to the victims of Jeffrey Epstein

The US bank JPMorgan Chase will pay 290 million dollars (269 million euros) to the alleged victims of the late tycoon Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexual exploitation of minors. The agreement was announced on Monday and avoids a high-profile trial.

The figure, initially reported by the Wall Street Journal, was confirmed to AFP by one of the victims’ lawyers, David Boies.

“The parties believe that this agreement is the best for all, especially for the victims who survived the horrific abuse of Mr. Epstein,” read a joint statement quoted by AFP.

In November of last year, a complaint was filed accusing the band of having ignored, for years, warnings about the tycoon who, in 2019, was accused and arrested for having organized a network of dozens of young people with whom he had sex in the streets their properties. He committed suicide in prison a few weeks later, before being tried.

JPMorgan provided services to Epstein between 1998 and 2013. Since 2005, the American has been identified as a sex offender.
