Two people were killed and five injured in the Chinese city of Gaoyou after a man deliberately drove a car into a group of people on Sunday, local newspaper The Paper reported today.
Police said they went to the scene shortly after the incident, which took place at 8 p.m. (1 p.m. in Lisbon) on Sunday, to coordinate medical care for the injured and to launch an investigation.
The arrested suspect is a 25-year-old man.
There have been several similar incidents in China in recent months.
In early April, a 47-year-old man hit a group of pedestrians in the central city of Pingdingshan. Three people died and seven were injured.
Last January, a motorist hit several pedestrians and killed five people in the southeastern city of Guangzhou.
In April 2021, Chinese justice in the city of Dalian executed a man who deliberately drove a car into a group of people, killing five people.
