French sports car brand Alpine, relaunched in 2017 and reorganized in 2021, is betting on a range of electric cars to break even in 2026, the Renault subsidiary said Monday morning.

The brand that Renault is relaunching on Formula 1 circuits has achieved a 33% increase in sales in 2022 compared to 2021, and now plans to reach break even in 2026, thanks to “the arrival of its new 100% electric models from 2024”, specifies a press release. It expects an annual growth of its turnover of 40% between 2022 and 2030, a breakeven operating margin in 2026, with a turnover of 2,000 million euros.

“In just 2 years, we’ve built Alpine into a full-fledged automaker by bringing together remarkable assets: a world-class engineering center, unique know-how for high-quality manufacturing, an expanding distribution network. And, Above all, by bringing Alpine into F1, we have projected it into the big leagues, offering the brand the prestige and recognition associated with the pinnacle of motorsport,” Renault boss Luca de Meo was quoted as saying in the statement. press.

Google and Verkor

The arrival of these new 100% electric models, starting in 2024, will allow the brand to “develop its income and achieve financial equilibrium from 2026”. In total, Alpine plans to launch “seven new models” of sports cars “by 2030”, including an electric street sports car based on the CMFB-EV platform of the Renault 5 and Renault 4.

A Crossover GT will see the light of day in 2025. It will be produced at the historic Dieppe plant. The new A110, the flagship of the brand’s renaissance, will be 100% electric by the end of 2026.

Alpine has this range to consolidate its presence in the European and Japanese markets and to serve as a springboard in the United States and the rest of Asia, where the new models will be presented “from 2027”. Among the industrial partners mentioned, Google “will develop connectivity services” and Verkor will supply “high-performance electric batteries made in Dunkirk.”

In February, the Renault sports brand recruited Ferrari’s engineering director, Frenchman Philippe Krief, to accelerate its return to the premium market. To accelerate this transformation and support the brand’s sporting ambitions in Formula 1, Alpine has announced the entry into the capital of three funds, Otro Capital, RedBird Capital Partners and Maximum Effort Investments, which will invest 200 million euros, thereby acquiring 24% of the capital. .
