Expect to meet people this Thursday on the roads. On this eve of the 3-day weekend of July 14, Bison Futé anticipates heavy traffic. This July 13 is thus classified in red in the sense of departures. More generally, the day is classified as orange in the direction of departures throughout France.
A red Thursday in the Parisian region in the direction of the departures
In detail, Bison Futé advises not to delay in hitting the road. Depart from Île-de-France or cross the region and major cities before noon.
Bison Futé also advises avoiding:
- the A1 motorway between Paris and Lille from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.,
- the A63 motorway between Bordeaux and Bayonne between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m.,
- the A7 motorway between Lyon and Marseille between 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.,
- the A9 motorway between Narbonne and Spain from 6 to 8 p.m.,
- the A61 motorway between Toulouse and Narbonne from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Access to Italy through the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 10 am to 11 pm,” warns Bison Futé.

A quieter Friday
On Friday, a national holiday, it will be quieter. However, be careful if you take the road to the northwest of the country and Brittany. This day, July 14, is classified in orange in the sense of departures. Bison Futé advises in particular to leave or cross Ile-de-France before 6 am
Bison Futé also advises avoiding certain main roads, especially in the morning, such as the A13 motorway between Paris and Caen from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the A10 motorway between Orléans and Tours between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the A7 motorway between Lyon and Marseille from 11 a.m. at 2 p.m.
Access to Italy through the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205) will be dense from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In the sense of the laps, these two days of Thursday and Friday are classified in green, specifies the organization.
A complicated weekend, with a red Saturday throughout France
The rest of the weekend promises to be busy on the roads again. This Saturday, July 15, it is classified in red throughout the country in the sense of departures. Bison Futé recommends leaving Paris and the main cities before 7 am
A red Sunday in Île-de-France
The situation will continue to be complicated on Sunday, with a day classified as orange in terms of starts and laps. Travel will be particularly difficult in the Rhône Valley, on the A7, all day long and late into the night, Bison Futé anticipates.
Attention in Île-de-France, where Sunday’s day is classified in red in the direction of the laps, after this long weekend. “In the direction of return, in Île-de-France, the expected traffic at the tolls will be very high, especially on the A10 and A6 motorways. On these axes, traffic will be intense from the beginning of the afternoon. The difficulties should continue present until late at night (mainly on the A10 motorway),” warns Bison Futé. The same is true of the A13, the motorway that leads to Normandy.
