Fuel prices: 63% of the French demand the return of the discount

BFMTV SURVEY – Our new “L’Opinion en direct” survey, prepared by the Elabe institute, shows that the majority of French people call for a return to discounting at the pump, even if it weighs on public finances.

As the cost of fuel continues to rise for the start of the school year, the French are calling for the rebate on pump prices to be reinstated.

According to a new “L’Opinion en direct” survey carried out by the Elabe Institute for BFMTV, 63% of French people believe that the return of the discount on oil is necessary for purchasing power, even if this has important consequences for public spending .

This measure has the broad support of the French who use the car daily (69%), of employees and workers (71%), of young people from 18 to 24 years old (72%) and of those from 25 to 34 years (70%), as well as by the inhabitants of rural municipalities (70%) and localities with less than 20,000 inhabitants (71%).

78% “tighten their belts”

The president of LR in the Hauts de France region, Xavier Bertrand, recently asked the Government to apply a new discount of between 15 and 20 cents on the price of a liter of gasoline for all drivers, unlike the compensation for fuel 100 euros available between January and March for modest homes. Bruno Le Maire rejected, however, the proposal of the former presidential candidate, considering that he would not be “responsible” given the cost that he would represent for public finances.
