King Charles III and Queen Camilla began their three-day state visit to France this Wednesday in a vehicle that seems quite familiar to them: a Bentley “Royal State Limousine.”
A Bentley produced in two copies.
This vehicle, produced in two copies, was used for the first time in 2002 during the golden wedding of Elizabeth II, an event that then marked her fifty years of reign. This model was offered by the Volkswagen group, owner of this British automobile flagship since 1998, states an article on the Carjager site.
This immense limousine, 6.22 meters long, is based on a Bentley Arnage, with a 6.75 liter V8 engine that produces more than 400 horsepower. It’s not too much to move this boat that weighs almost 3.4 tons on the scale. This excess weight is easily explained by the classic options of this type of vehicle: armored body, mine-proof floor or even bullet-proof glass. The air conditioning can also go into protection mode against chemical or bacteriological attacks.
The vehicle has also been raised so you can keep your hat on when you climb aboard. This entry is also facilitated by a modified door design.
A descent from the Champs Elysées in DS7
For the descent of the Champs-Elysées, after rekindling the flame of the unknown soldier under the Arc de Triomphe, King Charles III boarded a presidential DS7 Crossback with Emmanuel Macron.
This parade model with a convertible roof was used by Emmanuel Macron during his inauguration in 2017.
Brigitte Macron and Queen Camilla borrowed another vehicle: the DS7 Elysée, “a model currently used for the trips of the President of the French Republic and during ceremonies,” premium brand Stellantis informed us.
