Finally, we discovered this new R5. Renault has just revealed the first images of the production R5 and announces that the presentation will take place on February 26 at the Geneva Motor Show.
First good surprise: the production version will a priori be close to the concept presented at the beginning of 2021.
Renault specifies that it will have a length of 3.92 meters, 16 centimeters less than a Zoé. The first version launched will be offered with a 52kWh battery that will offer up to 400 kilometers of autonomy. The version whose price is expected to be 25,000 euros will be equipped with a 40 kWh battery. Renault does not specify the associated autonomy, but a simple rule of three estimates it at just over 300 kilometers.
This model will be equipped with a bidirectional on-board charger for energy exchanges with the house, the Diamond brand also confirms.
Some details of the production version.
Waiting for February 26, Renault also shows some details of the production version of the R5.
“The vertical rear lights incorporate a lighting function that extends the side of the body. This element contributes to the aerodynamic performance of the R5, avoiding penalizing air turbulence,” the statement underlines.
By the way, we note that the production version will have the small 5 logo discovered in the concept (photo below), but with a completely new design.
Interesting detail on the hood: “a charging indicator light, whose graphic forms an emblematic number ‘5’ when charging is complete.”
A way to visually identify the charge level of your vehicle, unique in the current automotive offering, “a great example of an accessible and humanized interface,” summarizes Renault. This indicator replaces the air intake on the hood of the historic model.
Other angles allow you to discover the R5 a little more and are visible on the page that allows you to access the skip-the-line bonus that Renault offers at 150 euros to reserve the vehicle, such as this different angle at the rear.
