As of April 1, 2024, the green sticker and the insurance certificate, both on paper, will disappear. The insurance for each vehicle will appear in the Insured Vehicle File (FVA), which can be directly accessed by law enforcement. A file populated daily by insurers.
When signing their contract, motorists will only receive a “note.” In paper or electronic format, according to insurance companies, what will this new document be used for?
have on hand
The note will contain the insurance policy number, registration number, insurer contact information, country code and insurer code. Therefore, all the information associated with the contract will be summarized there. Insurers recommend having it on hand, in your vehicle or on your phone.
“Motorists will use it, for example, to fill out a friendly report,” explains Nourredine Bekkar, co-founder of the online insurer Leocare.
Workshops will continue to contact insurance companies directly to find out under what conditions the vehicle under repair is covered and, simply, if it is well insured.
Every time the conditions of the contract change
If the memo is sent every time a new contract or contract renewal is signed starting April 1, 2024, certain small details remain to be resolved, such as the presence or not of a validity date of the current contract in the memo. Theoretically, from one year to the next, if nothing changes in the contract, the insurer is not obliged to send a note.
However, to reassure its customers, Leocare intends to send them before April 1, 2024. A decision at the discretion of each insurer.
