The longest VTC trip: a couple returns to Germany by Uber after their visit to Bayonne

An Uber driver from Bordeaux traveled more than 1,300 km to complete this trip.

This year, at least 1.3 million attendees participated in the Bayonne Festival, from Wednesday, July 26 to Sunday, July 30. Among the fair enthusiasts was a young German couple who came especially from Dortmund for the occasion. And to return, the thirtysomethings chose an uncomfortable means of transportation: a VTC.

Customers were afraid to fly

Questioned by France Bleu Pays Basque, Zouhir is the Uber driver who accepted this extraordinary trip, explaining that his clients “were afraid of flying and that the hotel prices were excessive.” “Customers were required to be in the Dortmund region of Germany in the morning,” he continues.

Therefore, the latter drove more than 14 hours to cover a distance of 1,340 km on the night of July 31 to August 1. This is the longest distance ever recorded by Uber. “I took the breaks I had to take, I stopped in Tours, Paris and Maubeuge, I made stopovers. The clients slept almost the entire trip. I am lucky to have a comfort vehicle so they were comfortable,” explains the driver.

The convoy arrived safely in the Ruhr area around 8 a.m. and Zouhir was able to collect 2,100 euros for the trip. “From a financial point of view, it’s a good deal,” he concludes. Before him, the longest trip ever made was in 2021, when another Uber driver traveled 1,129 km between Marseille and Brittany.
