Peugeot will speed up the electrification of its ranges by offering five new electric models in 2023 and 2024, brand director Linda Jackson said at the Paris Motor Show on Monday.
The Stellantis group brand will launch in particular the electric versions of its compact and familiar 308, produced in France. The motor of its compacts will also equip a sports edition of the small electric e-208. The 408 sedan, presented at the Paris Motor Show in gasoline and plug-in hybrid versions, will soon also have an electric version.
“From 2023, our entire range will be electrified”, in hybrid or electric, Linda Jackson said during a round table with journalists. Peugeot targets 100% electric sales in Europe by 2030.
12 electrics produced in France
The Paris Motor Show, which opened in Paris on Monday in the absence of many manufacturers, “is not of the expected size but it is still an expected meeting point for experts,” said Linda Jackson.
The lion brand will also present a concept before the end of 2022, the Peugeot “Inception”, which should illustrate its vision of the electric car. This will be the first concept based on the new STLA Small chassis, which Stellantis intends to roll out to all of its entry-level electric vehicles.
While electric models are still much more expensive to buy than their thermal equivalents, Peugeot isn’t working on an electric model smaller than the 208, Linda Jackson said, referring to the Peugeot scooter on the stand for small budgets and long distances. short.
The Stellantis group has also announced its intention to produce “shortly” 12 electric vehicles in France, compared to the current six. The Peugeot 308, 308 break and 408 electric will be produced in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) in particular, said Carlos Tavares together with Emmanuel Macron, who was visiting the Peugeot stand.
